Isobel Hunt

Isobel Hunt’s inspiration for embroidery originated in India where she spent six months travelling after graduating from Cambridge University. “I’d always loved textiles but in India the skill of embroidery particularly attracted my attention. Embroidery is everywhere - on clothes, as decorative wall hangings and even on animals’ blankets and head collars.”

On her return to England Isobel enroled at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace and upon graduating spent a year doing private commissions before starting Isobel Hunt Embroidery kits in 1999. Working from home she received her first order, from Liberty’s of Regent Street, London the day before her wedding and spent the day frantically counting wools, folding canvases and packing kits. Today the business has moved out of home and Isobel divides her time between designing for the business and looking after her three young children.
